The paper is a survey of the main topics of geometry which are the most important (according to the author's opinion) for the future development of geometry and its applications in other branches of science. The paper is divided into the following parts: I. Submanifolds: A. Isometric embeddings of surfaces; B. Different geometries; C. Minimal surfaces; D. Closed extremal surfaces; E. Motion of surfaces; F. Representation of surfaces in Euclidean space; G. Minimal surfaces in three-manifolds; H. Submanifolds in higher dimensional space. II. Intrinsic geometry: A. Constraints on the full curvature tensor; B. The Ricci tensor; C. Scalar curvature. III. Conclusion. -- In any part the historical review (based on 232 references) of the subject is given and open problems are proposed.
