The rational points of an algebraic variety \(X\) defined over a number field \(K\) are said to be potentially dense if there is a finite extension \(L\mid K\) such that the set \(X(L)\) is Zariski dense. The authors write: ``What are the possible strategies to propagate rational points on an algebraic variety? We thought of two: using the group of automorphisms \(\Aut(X)\) and using additional geometric structures -- like elliptic fibrations. The class of \(K3\) surface is an ideal test case for both methods.'' The authors prove that if \(X\) is a \(K3\) surface, then the rational points of \(X\) are potentially dense as soon as one of the following conditions is satisfied: (i) \(X\) has a structure of an elliptic fibration, (ii) the automorphism group of \(X\) is infinite, (iii) \(\text{rk Pic} (X_\mathbb{C})=2\) and \(X\) does not contain a \((-2) \)-curve, (iv) \(\text{rk Pic} (X_\mathbb{C})\geq 5\). Moreover, there are only 6 types of lattices of the Picard group \(\text{Pic}(X_\mathbb{C})\) of a \(K3\) surface \(X\) with \(\text{rk Pic} (X_\mathbb{C})=3\) and 2 types of lattices of \(\text{Pic} (X_\mathbb{C})\) with \(\text{rk Pic} (X_\mathbb{C})=2\) where the authors fail to establish potential density of rational points.
