The subject of the paper is the systematic study of analytic topologies over the set of natural numbers \(\mathbb N\) (every topology over \(\mathbb N\) is identified with a subset of the Cantor space \(2^{\mathbb N}\)). The authors analyze closed and \(G_\delta\) topologies, topologies that have the Baire property and \(T_1\) topologies. They present results concerning the complexity of bases and subbases of such topologies, analyze that complexity of Hausdorff topologies, and show that every analytic regular topology is homeomorphic to a countable subspace of the function space \(C_p(\mathbb N^{\mathbb N})\). The last parts of the paper are devoted to the study of the ideal of nowhere dense sets \(\text{NWD}(\tau)\) where \(\tau\) is a given topology, and one of the questions is: Given a Borel (analytic) ideal \(\mathcal I\) over \(\mathbb N\), what are the possible topologies \(\tau\) such that \(\mathcal I=\text{NWD}(\tau)\)? The authors show that \(\text{NWD}(\tau)\) is not a \(p\)-ideal for \(\tau\) analytic and prove many of the structural properties of ideals on \(\mathbb N\) by using Tukey reducibility and Rudin-Blass reducibility.
