The author studies a Hamiltonian vector field corresponding to a real cubic polynomial with four distinct critical values in the complex domain. He proves that there is a neighborhood of the Hamiltonian vector field in the space of all quadratic plane vector fields such that any vector field from this neighborhood has at most two limit cycles. The result of the paper may be considered as an infinitesimal version of the second part of the 16th Hilbert problem on the maximum number and relative position of limit cycles. It is based mainly on the study of zeros of suitable Abelian integrals.
