Einstein's field equations with the matter tensor describing a collisionless gas (by means of a density \(f\)) lead to the so-called Vlasov-Einstein system. Under the assumption of spherical symmetry, this system can be greatly simplified, and it results an easier set of equations which can be conveniently written down, e.g.~in terms of the variables \(r=|x|\), \(w=(x\cdot v)/r\), and \(F=|x\wedge v|^2\) adapted to the spherical symmetry. In the present paper the author considers the existence of static solutions of the special form \(f(r, w, F)=\phi(\alpha -\varepsilon(r)\sqrt{1+w^2+F/r^2}, F)\), where \(\alpha>0\), \(\varepsilon\) is a suitable function, and \(\phi(E, F)=CE_+^{\sigma+1}F^k\) for \(k>-1/2\) and \(0<\sigma<k+3/2\) is of Emden-Fowler type. It is shown (the argument proceeding often somewhat formal) that then for prescribed and sufficiently small ADM mass \(M\) there is a static solution \(f\) of this form and with this mass \(M\), and the solution can be continued up to the singularity at \(r=0\).
