The author proposes a numerical model, describing density-driven flows in porous media. For oscillatory convection, three mode patterns are discussed respectively for Rayleigh number \(\approx 390\), \(\approx 510\) and \(\approx 970\). It is observed that Rayleigh numbers increase for slender eddies. It is also pointed out that the study of oscillatory convection is important for the understanding of transition from steady to oscillatory and from oscillatory to chaotic regimes, which is fundamentally different in porous media and in pure fluid convection.
