Let \(P\) denote a finite set of \(v\) points, and \(L\) denote a collection of \(k\)-subsets of \(P\) (called lines). A \(2\)-\((v,k,1)\) design \(D= (P,L)\) is a system such that each 2-subset of \(P\) is contained in exactly one line. Let \(G\leq \Aut(D)\) be a group of automorphisms of a \(2\)-\((v,k,1)\) design \(D\). \(G\) is said to be line-primitive (line-transitive) on \(D\) if \(G\) is primitive (transitive) on \(L\), and the group \(G\) is said to be point-transitive (point-primitive) on \(D\) if \(G\) is transitive (primitive) on \(P\). A `flag of \(D\)' is defined to be a pair consisting of a point and a line containing this point. \(G\) is said to be flag-transitive on \(D\) if \(G\) is transitive on the set of flags of \(D\). The following theorem is proved: Let \(D\) be a \(2\)-\((v,k,1)\) design and \(G\leq\Aut(D)\). If \(k/(k,v)\leq 10\) and \(G\) acts as a line-primitive automorphism group of \(D\), then \(G\) is point-primitive.
