A square matrix over \(\mathbb{C}\) is said to be quasi-permutation, if its trace is a nonnegative integer. For a finite group \(G\), let \(p(G)\) denote the minimal degree of a faithful permutation representation of \(G\), let \(q(G)\) (\(c(G)\)) denote the minimal degree of a faithful quasi-permutation representation of \(G\) over \(\mathbb{Q}\) (over \(\mathbb{C}\)). In this paper, the numbers \(p(G)\), \(q(G)\) and \(c(G)\) are calculated in the case when \(G\) is a metacyclic \(p\)-group with noncyclic center. Reviewer's remark: In Lemma 3.3, \(K_1>\{1\}\) and \(K_2>\{1\}\) must hold. The same must hold in Lemmas 3.1 and 3.2 (otherwise, their assertions are trivial).
