      A Goldschmidt \(G_4\)-amalgam is an amalgam \({\mathcal A}={\mathcal A}(P_1,P_2,B)\) where \(P_1\cong 4^2:S_3\), \(P_2\sim 4S_4\sim(4*Q_8)\cdot S_3\), and \(B=P_1\cap P_2\) is of order \(2^5\). In this article, it is proved that if \(G\) is a completion of \(\mathcal A\) and \(G\leq\text{GL}(3,k)\) for some field \(k\) of characteristic \(p>0\) then \(p\) is odd and \(G\cong\text{SL}(3,p)\) if \(p\equiv 1\pmod 4\) and \(G\cong\text{SU}(3,p)\) if \(p\equiv 3\pmod 4\).
