The involutions of compact symmetric spaces. V (Q5930112)

The authors recall from part II [Tokyo J. Math. 15, 39--82 (1992; Zbl 0779.53036)] of this series of papers the definiton of the roots of a compact connected symmetric space in terms of its curvature tensor. They show that the roots form in fact a root system and compute the possible multiplicities. They also characterize the Kählerian symmetric spaces.
