Optimal control of harvesting in a nonlinear elliptic system arising from population dynamics (Q5930143)

This paper studies an optimal control problem for a system of nonlinear elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions. This system arises from population dynamics. The authors give results about: -- existence and uniqueness of coexistence state systems -- existence of an optimal control. Moreover, the optimal controls are characterized in terms of an optimality system, which is the state system coupled with the adjoint system. No concrete problem is treated.
