The author studies the problem \[ \partial u/\partial t-\Delta u+\beta(x,u)\ni 0\text{ in } Q, \qquad u(0)= \text{ in } \Omega, \quad u=0 \text{ on } \partial\Omega\times (0,T), \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb R ^ N\) with a smooth boundary, \(N\geq 2\), \(\beta(x,\cdot)\) is a measurable multivalued mapping with values maximal monotone graphs of \(\mathbb R \times \mathbb R\), \(0\in \beta(x,0)\) for a.e. \(x \in \Omega\), \(|\beta(x,r)|\leq C(1+|r|^\alpha)\) with \(\alpha\leq {1\over 2}+{2\over N}\), and is a bounded Radon measure from a variational point of view. He proves existence and uniqueness of a weak solution obtained as a limit of solutions of minimization problems. Using epi-convergence arguments he then shows that the limit of these solutions solves two different minimization problems.
