The author obtains a zero-curvature representation for the Krichever-Novikov equation in terms of matrices of \(sl_2\) with constant poles. From this representation the author constructs a class of algebraic-geometric solutions for the KN equation and proves that these solutions are related to rank-two solutions of the KP equation.
