    Cosmology requires a mapping procedure from reality to a model. This means, that such a procedure is a procedure of averaging the real, complicated geometry in some manner in order to assign a simplified model-geometry to it. The paper investigates such an averaging problem by introducing spectral distances. This is a measure of closeness between spaces defined in terms of the spectra of the Laplacian.
