The authors analyze the stability of the full solution with annular rub for a modified nonlinear Jeffcott rotor with rotor-stator clearance and cross-coupling stiffness coefficient. The rotor consists of a massless shaft carrying a disk with mass at the middle of the span; the mass center of the rotor is located at some distance from its geometrical center. The bifurcation boundaries between periodic full rub motion and quasi-periodic full rub motions as well as those between full annular rub motions and partial rub motions are determined. The authors also examine the dependence of the stability boundaries on rotor parameters. It is found that the simultaneous presence of coefficient of friction and cross-coupling stiffness coefficient may benefit the dynamics of rotor-stator system with rub.
