The authors describe new approaches to the findings of minimal forms. The use of conjugate gradient method as an optimization tool leads to the effective determination of uniform tension domains, and the presented modified formulations regarding the descent direction vectors and step lengths improve the calculation times. Then, the authors propose a combined approach including conjugate gradient method and density methods. Numerical experiments illustrate a close resemblance between this mixed formulation and existing density methods. The authors also compare the proposed method with other strategies, such as dynamic relaxation, particularly focusing on the computation time, convergence tolerance level, and on the number of degrees of freedom.
