    Let \(E\subset \mathbb C\) be a Jordan curve and let \(\sigma\) be a signed Borel measure supported on \(E\). The \textit{discrepancy} of \(\sigma\) is the number \(D[\sigma]:=\sup \{|\sigma (J)|: J\) subarc of \(E\}\). This quantity is used in the technique of the approximation of the equilibrium measure of \(E\) by sums of point masses. \textit{W. Kleiner} [Ann. Pol. Math. 14, 117-130 (1964; Zbl 0131.10203)] established an estimate for the discrepancy for smooth curves. The present paper extends this result for quasiconformal curves. The proof uses quasiconformal maps, planar condensers, and extremal lengths (moduli of curve families). The author provides examples which show the sharpness of the results from various points of view.
