Various notions of wildness have been used in the literature. But only very recently, systematic investigations have begun which aim at comparing and relating these notions of wildness. The author introduced in his thesis what he calls controlled wildness [Bielefeld (1999; see the preceding review Zbl 0980.16009)]. In this context he also considered strictly wild algebras and conjectured that an algebra is strictly wild if and only if it has a wild concealed factor algebra. In the paper under review he proves a special case of this conjecture by showing that an algebra with vanishing radical square is strictly wild if and only if it has a wild hereditary factor algebra.
