On minimal solutions of the matrix equation \(AX-YB=0\) (Q5932190)

An independent classification of the nonnegative solutions of the equation \(AX-YB=0\) is given to find minimal nonnegative solutions of the above equation, i.e. nonnegative \(Y_m\) such that \((X,Y_m)\) is a pair of solutions of the equation \(AX-YB=0\) and \(Y_m\leq Y\) for all other pairs of solutions \((X,Y)\) with the same \(X\). Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such solutions are discussed and an explicit formula for it is presented.
