The paper concerns weak and strong convergence of Mann-Ishikawa sequences \(\{x_n\}\) generated from points \(x_1\in{K}\) by \(y_n=(1-\beta_n)x_n+\beta_nTx_n\), \(x_{n+1}=(1-\alpha_n)x_n+\alpha_nTy_n\). Here \(K\) is a nonempty convex subset of a Banach space \(E\) and \(T:K\to{K}\) is a function. The main results state that, if \(E\) is uniformly convex and \(q\)-uniformly smooth (e.g., \(l^p\), \(L^p\), or \(W_m^p\) with \(1<p<\infty\)), \(K\) is closed, and \(T\) is strictly pseudocontractive, then \(I-T\) is demiclosed at \(0\). Moreover, if \(T\) has fixed points, then certain real sequences \(\{\alpha_n\}\) and \(\{\beta_n\}\), in \([0,1]\), generate sequences \(\{x_n\}\) which converge weakly to fixed points of \(T\).
