The author proves two results on the Dirichlet problem for the constant mean curvature equation \(\text{div}(\nabla u/ \sqrt{1+|\nabla u |^2})- 2H=0\), \(H=\text{const}.>0\), in domains \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^2\) and with zero boundary values: (i) if \(\Omega\) is an unbounded convex domain, then the Dirichlet problem is solvable if and only if \(\Omega\) is contained in a strip of width \(1/H\); (ii) if \(\Omega\) is a bounded convex domain which is contained in a strip of width strictly less than \(1/H\), then the Dirichlet problem has a solution. For the existence part of (i) the author uses the Perron method, for (ii) the continuity method.
