Let \(X=\{x_k=x_{kn}:k=1,2,\dots,n,n=1,2,3,\dots\}\) be a triangular array of nodes such that for each \(n\), \(-1\leq x_n<\dots<x_2<x_1\leq 1\). To any \(f\in C[-1,1]\) there corresponds a unique interpolation polynomial \(L_n(f;X;x)\) of degree at most \(n-1\) coinciding with \(f(x)\) at the nodes of the \(n\)-th row of \(X,\;L_n(f;X;x)=\sum_{k=1}^{n} f(x_k)l_k(X;x),\) where \(l_k(X;x)=l_{kn}(X;x)={{\omega (x)}\over {(x-x_k)\omega'(x_k)}}, k=1,2,\dots,n\) and \(\omega(x)=(x-x_1)(x-x_2)\cdots(x-x_n),\lambda_n(X;x)=\sum_{k=1}^{n}|l_k(X;x)|,\) the Lebesgue constants \(\lambda_n(X)=\max_{x\in [-1,1]}\lambda_n(X;x)\) and \(\Lambda_n^*=\min_X \Lambda_n (X).\) The Lebesgue function in the \(L_1\)-norm \(I_n(X)=\int_{-1}^1 \lambda_n(X;x)dx\) and \(I_n^*=\min_X I_n(X)\). In the present paper the authors study the behaviour of the integral of the Lebesgue function induced by interpolation at the Chebyshev roots. In Theorem 2.1 the authors get a convenient representation for \(I_n(T)\). In Theorem 3.1 the authors study the asymptotic behaviour of \(I_n(T)\) and get an explicit expression for two leading terms in the asymptotic expansion of \(I_n(T)\). Theorem 3.1: Let \(X=T:=\{x_k=\cos[(2k-1)\pi/(2n)]\}_{k=1}^n\) and let \(\{l_k(T,x)\}_{k=1}^n\) be the fundamental Lagrange polynomials corresponding to this set of nodes, then the following asymptotic relation holds \(I_n(T):=\int_{-1}^1\sum_{k=1}^n|l_k(T;x)|dx={8\over \pi^2}\log n+A+o(1)\), as \(n\to\infty\), where \(A={8\over \pi^2}(\nu+\int_0^{\pi/2}{\sin x\over x}dx -\int_0^{\pi/2}{1-\cos x \over x}dx+\int_0^{\pi/2}{\cot x(x-\sin x)\over (1-2x/\pi)x}dx=1.417018\dots, \nu\) is the Euler's constant.
