A \(\phi\)-function is a continuous non-decreasing function \(f(\cdot)\) on \([0,\infty)\) satisfying: \(f(0)= 0\), \(f(x)\to \infty\) as \(x\to\infty\). \(K_c\) is the set of all \(\phi\)-functions \(f\) satisfying the property \(\lim_{x\to\infty} f(\alpha(x)x)/ f(x)= 1\) for an arbitrary continuous positive function \(\alpha(\cdot)\) on \([0,\infty)\) satisfying \(\alpha(x)\to 1\) as \(x\to\infty\). If \(f\) and \(g\) are strictly increasing \(\phi\)-functions satisfying \(f(x)\sim g(x)\), \(x\to\infty\), what conditions yield \(f^{-1}\sim g^{-1}(x)\)? The authors analyze this question in terms of \(K_c\), a concept originating in [\textit{W. Matuszewska}, Stud. Math. 24, 271-279 (1964; Zbl 0171.33503)].
