Let \(\{x_n^1\}\) and \(\{x_n^2\}\) be recessive and dominant solutions of the nonoscillatory difference equation \[ \Delta(r_{n-1}\Delta x_{n-1})+p_nx_n=0. \] The author shows if \(\sum\limits^{\infty}f_nx_n^1x_n^2\) converges (perhaps conditionally) and satisfies a second condition on its order of convergence, then the difference equation \[ \Delta(r_{n-1}\Delta x_{n-1})+p_nx_n=f_ny_n \] is also nonoscillatory and has recessive and dominant solutions \(\{y_n^1\}\) and \(\{y_n^2\}\) that behave asymptotically like \(\{x_n^1\}\) and \(\{x_n^2\}\).
