Here, the authors analyze the effect of a numerical discretization over the attractor of a differential equation. To do this they need a common framework for the differential equation and the numerical scheme (one step and explicit). This is achieved via the skew-product and the notion of pullback attrator. Under certain assumptions, the authors prove that the pullback attractor of the numerical scheme accumulates inside the attractor of the differential equation when the discretization parameter converges to zero. This is proved for a family of numerical methods that includes Euler's method with variable step. They analyze in more detail the case where the pullback attractor is a singleton.
