In this paper it is investigated the hyperbolic system \[ \partial_t u+A(u) \partial_xu=0, \quad (x,t)\in \mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}_+ \] with the initial condition \(u(0)=u_0\), where \(A(u)\) is a \(N\times N\) matrix depending smoothly upon \(u\). The authors have introduced a new notion of admissible solutions based on prescribed sets of admissible discontinuities and admissible speeds. These solutions generalize the entropy solutions known for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws and for the systems in nonconservative forms. Under the assumption that a \(L^1\)-continuous semigroup of admissible solutions exists, it is proved the uniqueness of such admissible solution for the above problem.
