This paper is devoted to the quasilinear Schrödinger equation \[ iu_t= -\Delta u+V(x) u+f\bigl(|u|^2 \bigr)u-\Delta g\bigl(|u |^2 \bigr) g'\bigl( |u|^2 u\bigr),\tag{1} \] where \(V\) is a given potential and \(f,g\) are smooth functions. The main goal of the author is to prove the local well posedness for smooth solutions of the whole space Cauchy problem for (1) in arbitrary space dimension without supposition of smallness assumptions on the initial value. To this end the author combines Nash-Moser techniques on implicit function theorems in Fréchet spaces with hyperbolic semigroup theory including evolution systems using the intersection of all Sobolev spaces as a basic function space.
