A sufficient condition that guarantees the existence of a Perron-Frobenius eigenpair is derived. This sufficient condition is satisfied by sets of matrices with (some) negative entries. This result is obtained by studying some convex and closed cones that have the matrix \(ee^t\) as the central ray (here \(e\) is the column vector with all components equal to 1 such that \(ee^t\) is the matrix with 1's only). The maximum angle that a matrix must form with \(ee^t\) before it may lose the Perron-Frobenius property is characterized. Examples are given.
