The author presents a model of plastic deformation with grain subdivision into parallel bands, based on experimertal data observed in rolled metals. Part I deals with the initial stage of plastic deformation with grain subdivision into two band families covering the situations with identical and different average strains in the individual grains. Part II deals with the subsequent stages at higher strains and with resulting rolling texture. The involved mathematics is rather elementary.
