It was shown by \textit{M. Gromov} [Invent. Math. 82, 307-347 (1985; Zbl 0592.53025)] that there exist nonconstant holomorphic discs with boundary on any embedded, closed Lagrangian in \(\mathbb{C}^n\). The main theorem of the paper states the following. Let be given a symplectic hypersurface \(\Sigma\) of a symplectic manifold \(M\), such that (1) there exists a compatible almost complex structure on \(M\), making \(\Sigma\) a complex hypersurface, (2) both \(M\) and \(\Sigma\) are geometrically bounded (3) there does not exist a non-constant holomorphic sphere in \(M\) with nonpositive intersection index with \(\Sigma\). Suppose further that \(U\subset M\) is a neighborhood of \(\Sigma\) and \(L\subset(M\setminus U)\times\mathbb{C}\) is a geometrically bounded Lagrangian such that the projection onto the second component is bounded. Then there exists a loop in \(L\) which bounds a non constant holomorphic disc in \((M\setminus U)\times\mathbb{C}\). As a consequence the author shows that there does not exist a Lagrangian embedding of the Klein bottle into the complement of a real plane in \(\mathbb{C}^2\).
