The authors introduce a model for highly viscous incompressible glass flow during the pressing phase of the production. Using a perturbation method based on the slender geometry and low Reynolds number, the authors obtain explicit expressions for flow velocity and pressure gradient. When the plunger velocity is given, they calculate the total force on the plunger, and when the force is prescribed they, solve an ordinary differential equation for plunger velocity. The corresponding results are compared with numerical (FEM) solutions in two representative examples.
