The authors consider the following generalized Cauchy problems \[ \begin{aligned} M{d\over {dt}}z(t) &=Az(t), \quad z(0)=z_0,\\ {d\over {dt}}Mz(t) &=Az(t),\quad Mz(0)=z_0,\end{aligned} \] where \(M\) and \(N\) are linear operators from Banach space \(X\) to another Banach space \(Y\). There is no assumption about closability of \(M\) and \(N\). Using pseudoresolvent and semigroup theories the authors found sufficient conditions for the existence of strict solutions of the above Cauchy problems. A factorization procedure with respect to the kernel of \(M\) is proposed. This factorization is made more explicit in Hilbert space. Several examples are included.
