Linear control problems in descriptor form with time-varying coefficients, \[ E(t)\dot x(t) = A(t) x(t) + B(t) u(t) + f(t), y(t) = C(t) x(t) + g(t), \] are investigated, where \(x\) represents the state, \(u\) the input, \(y\) the output, and \(t\) the time, and the time-varying matrices \(A\), \(B\), \(C\) and \(E\) are complex and given on some compact interval. From the text: ``Based on a behaviour approach and the general theory for linear differential algebraic systems we give the theoretical analysis and describe numerically stable methods to determine \dots properties of the system like solvability, regularity, model consistency and redundancy. We also discuss regularization via feedback.'' The results follow from extensions of the concepts introduced by \textit{P. Kunkel} and \textit{V. Mehrmann} [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 56, No. 3, 225--251 (1994; Zbl 0824.34002), SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 33, No. 5, 1941--1961 (1996; Zbl 0858.65064), and Math. Control Signals Syst. 10, No. 3, 247--264 (1997; Zbl 0894.49020)] to control problems.
