The paper deals with fuzzy languages [cf. \textit{J.-Z. Shen}, Inf. Sci. 88, No. 1-4, 149-168 (1996; Zbl 0882.68081)] and fuzzy codes [cf. \textit{J.-Z. Shen}, J. Jiangxi Norm. Univ., Nat. Sci. Ed. 23, No. 3, 189-194 (1999; Zbl 0991.94071)]. The authors describe an algorithm for verification if a given fuzzy language is a fuzzy code. Another characterization of fuzzy codes is given by Bernoulli fuzzy distributions on the free semigroup of words generated by a finite alphabet.
