Stability estimates of difference schemes for neutral delay differential equations (Q5937336)

The present paper deals with neutral delay differential equations of the form \[ \begin{aligned} \dot u(t) &= -a(t) u(t)+ b(t) u(t- \omega)+ c(t)\dot u(t- \omega),\\ u(t) & g(t),\quad -\omega\leq t\leq 0\end{aligned} \] with \(\omega\)-periodic coefficient functions. In the first part an estimation of the solution \(u\) in terms of the coefficient functions and the initial condition is given. In the second part the neutral delay equation is discretized with some first and second-order difference schemes. Then, analogous estimations for the discrete solution are shown for these difference schemes. This approach opens the route for an alternative stability discussion for difference schemes applied to neutral delay equations.
