For a metric connected space \(( X,d) \) define a set \(r(X,d)\) that consists of all real numbers \(\alpha \) with the property: for each natural \(n\) and for \(x_{1},x_{2},\dots ,x_{n}\) in \(X\) there exists \(x\in X\) such that \(\sum_{i=1}^{n}d(x_{i},x)=n\alpha \). For some metric spaces \(( X,d) \) the set \(r(X,d) \) may be empty; in other cases it may contains more then one point. If \(\text{card }r( X,d) =1\) then \(X\) is said to has the average distance property (a.d.p.) In this case \(\alpha =r(X,d)\) is called `the rendezvous number'. \textit{O. Gross} [Ann. Math. Stud. 52, 49-53 (1964; Zbl 0126.16401)] showed that any compact metric connected space has the a.d.p. In the reviewed paper authors showed that the unit ball \(B(\ell_{\infty }(text{QTR}{\mathbb C}))\) of the Banach space \(\ell_{\infty }( \text{QTR}{\mathbb C}) \) of all bounded complex-valued sequences with sup norm has the a.d.p. \ Moreover, authors calculated that \(r(B(\ell_{\infty }( \text{QTR}{\mathbb C})))=1/3+(2\sqrt{3})/\pi =. r(B(\ell_{\infty }^{(n)}(\text{QTR}{\mathbb C})))\) for all natural \(n\). This is the answer on the problem of \textit{P.-K. Lin} [Arch. Math. 68, No. 6, 496-502 (1997; Zbl 0881.46015)]. Also, the rendezvous numbers \(r(B(\ell_{1}^{(n)}( \text{QTR}{\mathbb C})))\) are calculated in the terms of the elliptic integral functions.
