The authors study algebras such that there is an order on the projectives, \(P_1,\dots,P_n\), with \(\Hom(P_i,P_j)=0\) whenever \(i>j\), which is a generalization of some previous work involving the authors, where the algebras where all the idempotent ideals are projective were studied. One of the nicest consequences of one of the theorems is that the finitistic conjecture is valid for this class of rings, more precisely, there is a bound depending on the ring which is easy to calculate and given in the paper. Using a well known result of Ringel they give a class of rings where the modules of finite projective dimension form a functorially finite subcategory of the category of all modules and therefore this subcategory has almost split sequences.
