    The author considers the optimal control problem \[ J(\Psi)={1\over 2} \int_\Omega\{|T(\Psi)- z|^2+ |\nabla\Psi|^2\} dx\to \min\text{ in }H^1_0(\Omega), \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded smooth domain in \(\mathbb{R}^n\), \(z\in L^2(\Omega)\) is a given function, and \(T(\Phi)\) denotes the solution \(y\) of the variational inequality \[ \int_\Omega\nabla y\cdot\nabla(\varphi- y) dx\geq 0\;\forall\varphi\in \mathbb{K}(\Psi),\;\mathbb{K}(\Psi)= \{\varphi\in H^1_0(\Omega): \varphi\geq \Psi\text{ a.e. on }\Omega\}. \] The main feature of the paper is the investigation of the regularity properties of an optimal pair.
