Straightening soliton curves (Q5938931)

This paper deals with a straightening soliton curves. Here a canonical straightening process is described for soliton curves associated with the localized induction hierarchy. In the case of planar elastica the author illustrates the straightening process with explicit formulas. Moreover the constructions and examples of the author are meant to contribute to a larger program: to explore the natural role of soliton curves in geometry, topology and graphics.
