The authors study the title problem for compressible viscous isentropic gas flows in two or three space dimensions, in an unsteady formulation. The desired global weak solution is constructed as a limit of smooth approximate solutions which satisfy mass and momentum conservation laws with mollified initial data, for which the authors are able to obtain \(L_2\) a priori density estimates by using the energy method.
