Self-intersection in elasticity (Q5939387)

The authors deal with local behaviour of solutions of equilibrium equations of elasticity in the vicinity of corners in the case of plane strain. An asymptotic solution represents the situation very close to the corner, and be in this neighborhood the linear and nonlinear theories predict a very different behaviour. Away from the corner, these results are no more valid. But in an intermediate region the numerical results obtained from both linear and nonlinear theories show strinking similarities; thus, a new behaviour of the free surface in various cases is put in evidence.
