A linear code of length \(2n\) and dimension \(n\) is formally self-dual if it has the same weight distribution as its dual code. A code is called odd if it contains vectors of odd Hamming weight. The paper classifies all optimal formally self-dual binary codes of length up to \(16\) and determines the highest minimum weight of binary formally self-dual codes of length up to \(24\). It is proved also that the linear binary codes with parameters \([16, 8, 5]\) and \([22, 11, 7]\) are unique.
