The main objective of this paper is to investigate numerically sigh-changing solutions of the superlinear elliptic equation \[ -\Delta w=f(w)\quad \text{in }\Omega , w=0\quad\text{on }\partial \Omega\tag{1} \] The authors discuss the existence of the sign-changing solution to (1), which reflect the symmetry of \(\Omega .\) Two numerical algorithms are proposed. Numerical examples on several typical symmetric domains are presented (equilateral triangle, square and disc). The examples indicate that each of these algorithms has certain advantages and disadvantages. The finite element method with linear splines is used to approximate the solution of the Dirichlet problem.
