Particular global methods for solving second-order initial value problems are investigated. The aim of the paper is to give a detailed analysis for the convergence and stability properties of the seventh \(C^3\)-spline methods. It is shown that the methods are equivalent to certain discrete variable methods. The methods are convergent, the order of convergence is seven and they have wider regions of absolute stability. The experiments are designed to test the efficiency of the spline collocation methods for linear and nonlinear initial value problems.
