Consider a convergent power series \(f \in {\mathbb C}\{x,y\}\) in two variables. Let \(t\) be a linear form, and \(\phi\) be an irreducible factor of the Jacobian \(\partial (t,f)/\partial(x,y)\). A polar quotient of \(f\) with respect to \(t\) by definition is \((f,\phi)_0/(t,\phi)_0\). (Quotient of intersection numbers at zero.) NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe main result of the paper is a formula for the maximal polar quotient of \(f\) with respect to \(t\), in terms of the maximal polar quotients of the branches, and some intersection multiplicities.
