      Let \(\sigma(p)\) be the spectrum of the boundary value problem NEWLINE\[NEWLINE u^{(4)}-(p_1(x)u')'+p_2(x)u=\lambda u, 0<x<1,\quad u(0)=u(1)=u''(0)=u''(1)=0, NEWLINE\]NEWLINE with \(p=(p_1,p_2), p_k(x)\in L_2(0,1), p_k(x)=p_k(1-x).\) Denote by \(B(a,\varepsilon)\) the ball in \(L_2(0,1)\times L_2(0,1)\) of radius \(\varepsilon>0\) about \(a=(a_1,a_2).\) The main result of the paper is the following uniqueness theorem: Let \(a_1,a_2\) be constants. There exists an \(\varepsilon>0\) such that if \(p,\widetilde p\in B(a,\varepsilon)\) and \(\sigma(p)=\sigma(\widetilde p)\), thenNEWLINENEWLINENEWLINE1) \(p_2=\widetilde p_2\) implies \(p_1=\widetilde p_1\); 2) \(p_1=\widetilde p_1\) and \(\int_0^1 (p_2(x)-\widetilde p_2(x)) dx\) implies \(p_2=\widetilde p_2\).
