The relativistic electron-positron field is considered. The field interacts with itself via the Coulomb potential with positive density-density quadratic interaction. The supposed normal-ordered Hamiltonian differs from the bare Hamiltonian by a quadratic term. The quadratic term is equivalent to a renormalization of the Dirac operator by choosing the normal ordering. This non-perturbative definition of the electron/positron states is interpreted as a mass, wave function and charge renormalization.
