On the statement of characteristic problems for symmetric first-order hyperbolic systems (Q5942100)

The author considers the hyperbolic system \[ u_t+\sum_{i=1}^n A_iu_{x_i}+Bu=F,\tag{1} \] with symmetric \(m\times m\) real matrices \(A_i\), \(B\), the matrices \(A_i\), are supposed to be symmetric. The author suggests well-posed statements of the Goursat problem in conical domains for a certain class of systems (1). It is shown that this class includes in particular the systems of Maxwell and Dirac equations, and equations of crystal optics.
