The authors propose a design procedure for robust decentralized stabilization of large-scale systems using state-feedback controllers. A sufficient condition for asymptotic stability with a prescribed degree is presented, and it enables the design of the controllers only using the information of the possible bound of the interconnected matrices and nonlinear perturbations. The reasoning is based on the Lyapunov machinery and uses some algebraic Riccati equations involving bounds for the interconnected matrices. The results are extended to a class of large scale time-delay systems. The solvability condition for the Riccati equation is given in terms of eigenvalues of a related Hamiltonian matrix. The authors present results of two examples to demonstrate that their criterion is less conservative than similar ones presented elsewhere.
