The authors of this very interesting paper study 3- and 4-field lattices, recently proposed by \textit{M. Błaszak} and \textit{K. Marciniak} [J. Math. Phys. 35, 4661-4682 (1994; Zbl 0823.58013)]. The 3-field lattice has the form \[ \begin{aligned} a_t(n)&= c(n+1)-c(n-1),\\ b_t(n)&= a(n-1)c(n-1)-a(n)c(n),\\ c_t(n)&= c(n)[b(n)-b(n+1)],\end{aligned} \] and 4-field lattice \[ u_t(n)=u(n)[v(n)-v(n-1)], \quad v_t(n)=w(n)u(n+1)-u(n)w(n-1), \] \[ w_t(n)=q(n)u(n+2)-u(n)q(n-1), \quad q_t(n)=u(n+3)-u(n). \] The corresponding discrete systems are considered as well. By using the bilinear form for 3-field lattice and its corresponding Bäcklund transformation, a series of rational solutions are obtained. Starting from the bilinear form for the 4-field lattice, a new lattice is found which has soliton solutions. An interesting result is the existence of some new solutions of the 3-field Błaszak-Marciniak lattice. They are obtained by the method of the nonlinear superposition of solitons and rational solutions.
